Features

The 300S uses an air quality sensor to give you real time updates on the air particulates in the room, and can automatically shut down when the air becomes clean enough. It uses both a true HEPA filter for small particles and an activated carbon filter for odors. Filter indicators are designed to let you know when then need to be changed, and you can use the app to adjust fan speed and other controls. It can take care of up to 1,256 square feet.

To no surprised, TechHive particularly liked that the Airmega 300S shows you the air quality, adapts to its surroundings, and tells you when the filter needs to be changed. However, they really weren't fans of the $750 MSRP.

"The 300S breaks from the tall space-saving design of conventional air purifiers. The 21.2 x 13.6 x 13.6-inch box demands a fair amount of space and is about as inconspicuous as a swamp cooler. Perhaps that’s why it’s designed to look more like a piece of furniture than an appliance, with four black feet and a shiny white plastic body, whose studding of clefts seems as much for visual appeal as for sucking air."

Amazon reviewers found this model to be both beautiful and effective. However, they did notice a few faults, such as a very bright display light (making it harder to sleep), and some iffy app controls which may or may not stand the test of time.

"The unit as a whole is quite nice and the exterior quality seems excellent. The unit is also attractive and fits well into most any location. So much nicer to look at then all those cheap plastic monstrosities out there. As for effectiveness, we noticed a genuine improvement after running it for just 24 hours. No more morning sniffles! We like it so much we wanted to order another for our first floor. Unfortunately, as effective as it is, we find returning the item for a refund. Why the return? There seems to be an issue with the fan becoming unbalanced during shipment. The first one we ordered made an unusual noise on the lowest 2 settings including the sleep mode. "
